What is Rocket League?

Rocket League is a game released in July 2015 and developed by Psyonix. The concept is simple: two teams of one to four players compete in a soccer match, but with cars. Equipped with boosts for short bursts of speed, the team that scores the most goals in the 5-minute match wins. Players need to make a commitment to start the match and are allowed to jump, perform spins in all possible directions, and use their boosts. There is the classic mode, which corresponds to soccer, but there are also secondary modes such as ice hockey and basketball

Car customization

In Rocket League, you not only have to do your best to score the most goals and win all your matches, but you also need to make your car look as stylish or unique as possible. You can customize various aspects of your car, some of which are purely cosmetic while others have an impact on gameplay

First, there's the type of car. Here you will find all the possible car chassis to use, some of which have different hitboxes, leading to various play styles such as ball control, aerial play, or a more aggressive game. Then, you have the option to apply decals of different shapes, which can be animated or not. You can also choose a primary and secondary color for your car, along with wheels of various colors and animations, a choice of boost effects, hats that are each more original than the last, and finally, a car antenna at the rear

All these changes can be made so that you can enjoy your car to the fullest. You will have the chance to unlock these decorative accessories throughout your journey in Rocket League by leveling up, opening packs, accessing the in-game shop, and using the battle pass in the way you prefer. The Ranking System

In Rocket League, the goal is to progress. To do so, there's the option, as in most games, to play in a competitive mode that allows players to rank according to their skill level. The better you are at the game, the higher you'll climb in rank and thus rise to the top of the leaderboard to become the best player in your region (Europe, America, Asia, Oceania, etc.). When you win games, you earn points for ranking up and advancing divisions. Conversely, if you lose games, you'll lose points and move down divisions. To rank up, you need to climb four divisions. To earn a total of 22 competitive medals, you must reach the highest rank, which is "Supersonic Legend". To achieve this, you need to play games to reach a rank, typically starting at bronze, then progress through the three tiers of bronze to reach silver. Then there's Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Champion, Grand Champion, and finally, the ultimate goal for any Rocket League player, Supersonic Legend

The different esports events

Rocket League is a competitive game at its core but also has an international competitive aspect. Here are the important dates to remember:

• Season 1: In 2016, the RLCS was held in Los Angeles and included 4 North American and 4 European teams.
• Season 2: Also in the same year, the event took place in Amsterdam where Europe won this time after two RLCS finals played.
• Season 3: In June 2017, Northern Gaming emerged victorious against Mock-it Esports.
• Season 4: November 2017: It was in Washington DC that a French player became world champion for the first time. Gale Force Esports won this year with Kaydop beginning his reign in the esports scene.
• Season 5: In June 2018, it was the first time that players won the RLCS consecutively, held in London.
• Season 6: November 2018, it was in Las Vegas that Cloud9 claimed their title for the season, dethroning the undefeated teams of the last two seasons.
• Season 7: June 2019 was memorable for the French as the first French team "Renault Vitality" won the RLCS against G2 in New Jersey. Thus, Kaydop won the RLCS once again, tying with Turbopolsa.
• Season 8: December 2019, NRG Esports won the final once again against Renault Vitality in Madrid. The French team composed of Fairy Peak, Kaydop, and Scrub Killa lost in the final phase of the RLCS, allowing Turbopolsa to win a fourth title.
• Season 9: March 2020, due to the Covid pandemic, this year did not crown a team, so we didn't have a world champion that year.
• Season 10: June 2021, the RLCS format changed to include splits. These splits consist of minor and major tournaments. These tournaments award points to a team to qualify for the Worlds. But due to Covid, no team won the Worlds.
• Season 2021-2022: With this new tournament and the return of international LANs, Team BDS won in Los Angeles against G2.
• Season 2022-2023: After various tournaments throughout the year won by Gen.G, Karmine Korp, and Team Vitality, it was in Germany that Team Vitality once again won the RLCS by winning without losing a single match, achieving a perfect season after Zen's arrival.

Collaborations in Rocket League
